This week, Group14 hosted students from Olympic View K-8 at our offices in Seattle through our partnership with IGNITE Worldwide, an organization on a mission to achieve gender equity in STEM. At Group14, we hope to inspire the next generation with careers in clean energy. Our engineers and scientists had the pleasure to share their career journeys into STEM while students learned how to draw their own circuit and use lemons and potatoes to power digital clocks. 🍋 🥔 ⏰ A big shoutout to our team of volunteers for making this happen - and we can’t wait to see the ideas and technologies these future leaders come up with!

Already shipping to more than 100 customers representing 95% of worldwide lithium-ion production, Group14 is leading the way in manufacturing silicon batteries for EVs, consumer electronics and more. Describing her visit to our BAM-1 factory in Washington State, PCMag’s Emily Dreibelbis shares a behind-the-scenes peek into what VP of Global Market Strategy Grant Ray calls a “wonderfully simple, elegant solution.” With less time spent plugging in, SCC55 is relieving charge anxiety, something Grant believes is in the near future: “The big thing that rechargeable batteries gave us was mobility in our technology we never had before. My hope is when we get silicon batteries throughout the world we can live a fully untethered technological life.” Read more about our breakthrough SCC55 material and the eureka moment that allowed us to scale production to meet demand: https://lnkd.in/gY8q6HqK

The International Energy Agency (IEA) predicts electric vehicle sales could rise more than 20% this year, positioning EV and hybrid models to account for 1 out of 5 cars sold worldwide. Financial Times’ Peter Campbell explores this potential new era of growth, and what the industry still needs to see to drive further adoption. One big piece of the puzzle? Transformational battery technologies to meet today’s standards for performance. At Group14, we’re making it possible for more EVs to hit the road as we scale our manufacturing process for advanced silicon battery materials worldwide – from North America to Asia to Europe and beyond. PCMag’s Emily Dreibelbis recently stopped by our BAM-1 factory in Woodinville, WA, to hear about how next-generation battery technologies, like our breakthrough SCC55 material, are paving the way for better battery performance. Here’s what Group14 VP of Global Market Strategy Grant Ray had to say about silicon’s performance potential during the tour of BAM-1: "We're increasing the battery's energy density by up to 50% or more, and enabling battery manufacturers to bring charging times way down to the point where recharging your car gets closer to refilling your tank.” More on why we’ll need several battery solutions to get our cars from running on fossil fuels to batteries: https://lnkd.in/gx_4Rm_3
